June 26th

Today was a day filled with many mixed emotions for our team and for the Brazilians as well. It was an encouragement to see the continued work of the evangelism team as well as to see the progress the kids have made throughout their week at the VBS. It´s quite the amazing sight to look around and see kids praying with adults and other kids to receive salvation. Some of the kids are so eager to accept Christ that they came up to us asking if they could pray with us. Praise God for working in the lives of these kids.

By the end of the first session most of us were pretty tired and mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausted from the previous days and from having to say goodbye to a lot of our new friends... and then we realized that we had to do it all over again this afternoon!!! In the midst of our tears and hugs Pastor Darril told us that crying wasn´t so much a bad thing, but instead it meant that we had done our jobs this week in sharing the love of Christ with these kids.

Tonight was a special night because there were close to 200 men and women who came to a service that we held. The guys were at Kids Place to attend a `young men´s night.´ They learned about what it means to be a real man of God. The ladies had a Women´s Beauty Night at Imperial Baptist Church (the other VBS location). The women talked about being beautiful on the inside and then us `Americanos´ had the opportunity to wash the women´s feet and paint their fingernails. Both were very powerful experiences for everyone.

Thank you again for your prayers. We can see God working so much here in Recife.

WOw! What a powerful ending to an amazing week.

I have enjoyed coming and reading your recaps each day. Thank you for doing so!

Will continue to pray...praying for comfort as your trip comes to an end; for safe travel home; and a restful week next week!

Hi everyone,

I thank God for blessing your mission with so many decisions-that is the goal of most of us when we undertake such ventures. But I also know there are other blessings that may not even be apparent to you until after you come home-like a new perspective in your own life.

Will be praying for you all to have a safe trip home and time to "treasure up" what God has shown you in your hearts.

ps
Noah, Grandpa and all of us want to make sure we didn't miss your turn at the blog, but as none of them are "signed" we aren't sure which one you did, or if you still have yet to do yours. We are so proud you want to use your gift for computers to serve God! And likewise, I am so pleased you are using your gift for performing arts to help the people understand God's love in a way that bypasses the language barrier, Mickie!

Love,
Gwen B./Mom ;)

So excited to see everyone Sunday safely home. Praying for safe traveling mercies, uneventful, allowing time to get a little rest before being bombarded by those who love you, anxious to hear personally all about your week.
For those of you checking in daily, reading all God has done with the team, ie. family and friends both believers and perhaps non-believers; now it's YOUR turn. WHAT ABOUT YOU? Jesus said:
"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."(John 11:25-26)
Then he asked the MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION...."Do YOU BELIEVE???"(John 11:26)

His friend Martha answered correctly...."Yes,Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."

"Do you believe?"

Love you and praying for you as well. P.H.

Hi Everyone,
Sounds like you are ending your trip stronger than you began it which is, I am sure, what you prayed for. I am heartened to hear how you have seemed to reach the adults in the area. They have such a burden in life and really need Christ. What a blessing to the women to have a little pampering and be able to hear Christ's message at the same time! We miss you all. Mary, I am making that pot of spaghetti for you! Looking so forward to seeing you, Love, Mom (Linda)

Wow! That was amazing to read. Thank you so much for taking time out to write about your experiences even though you were so tired. It was a blessing to hear all the prayers that were answered. God is so good. What an amazing journey.

I pray He will bless each one of you for all the work you've done.
